Hi, I’m Jenell!
My journey into lactation consulting began after the birth of my first child at 32 weeks. As a new mom of a NICU baby, I experienced firsthand how overwhelming infant feeding challenges could feel, and wished I had more personalized support during that season of life.
After becoming a nurse and later an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, I pursued lactation consulting and my IBCLC certification and started the lactation program within the primary care practice I was working at in Lake County, Illinois. I then transitioned to working with families in a community health care setting in Wisconsin, and I now currently continue to practice as a IBCLC & Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
As the mother of three now adult children, with over 10 years of practice as an IBCLC and 18 years of pediatric nursing, 14 of those as a Nurse Practitioner, I have learned to appreciated the relationship between each mother and baby. I respect the values and belief of each family, while offering support and education to help families make informed decisions.
I believe you know your baby and your body best and I’m here to help you understand how they work together and to help you set reasonable and obtainable goals; occasional things don’t go as planned and my goals is to support you, while you find your balance along this breastfeeding journey, and help you celebrate your successes.
Wether you choose a one time visit, or one of the Balanced BeginningsTM Fourth Trimester Support Packages you’ll receive personalized, professional care, to help you feel prepared, confident, and supported – so you can focus on bonding with your baby and feeding in a way that feels right for your family.
